Expert Review

Created by Intersections Inc., Identity Guard® offers consumers premier identity theft protection solutions that go beyond the basic credit reports, scores* and monitoring. Identity Guard’s innovative solutions help protect your financial information, public records and personal data through a comprehensive suite of protection services built around you and your specific needs. The goal is to keep you safe from criminal activity and its negative effect while giving you financial and personal peace of mind. Identity Guard is a leader in consumer and corporate identity risk management offering unparalleled experience, trusted protection and outstanding service.

What We Like

The benefits that the Premier plan offers outweigh those of competing identity theft protection services. See below for a full list of benefits. They utilize IBM® Watson™ advanced artificial intelligence as a powerful tool for monitoring your data that comes with every Identity Guard protection plan.

The fact that our Identity Guard review unveiled that it’s a product of Intersections Inc. makes it appealing as well. Intersections has been a BBB Accredited business since 1996 and holds an A+ BBB rating.

Identity Guard’s online Resource Center provides consumers with information that help them better understand what identity theft is and offers tips to help protect yourself and your family from becoming a victim. Some topics they cover include:

Not to mention you can cancel your account by logging in on their website rather than having to call like most other providers. We love this too.

What We Don't Like

Identity Guard doesn’t offer medical identity protection or mailing list removal as a service.

Although Intersections Inc. has a stellar BBB rating, there are a number of complaints that have been filed with the BBB in the last 3 years; however each one of the 34 complaints has been resolved and closed. Another positive is that most of the customer complaints we found online had responses from the company, which shows good customer service.

Some of the common customer complaints revolve around billing problems and issues logging into accounts. This could get annoying in your quest for stress-free identity theft protection.

The Bottom Line

With a solid foundation and Intersections Inc.’s proven track record of success, we would trust our identity with Identity Guard. The three packages offered to consumers give well-rounded, varying levels of identity security. The utilization of IBM® Watson™ artificial intelligence helps Identity Guard stand out in our review from most of its competitors.

How Identity Guard Works

Identity Guard’s membership is built on a three-prong system: Monitor, Protect, Recover.

Monitor:

Identity Guard uses IBM® Watson™ artificial intelligence to monitor and processes billions of pieces of information to alert you about potential threats to your identity. The technology monitors your personal and financial information through credit, identity and public record monitoring and delivers prompt, up-to-date alerts via email, text or phone. There is also a mobile app available allowing members to receive alerts while on-the-go.

Protect:

Identity Guard offers a suite of protection features that help secure personal information and keep it out of the hands of identity thieves:

Recover:

In the event your identity is stolen, Identity Guard reviews your situation and will get your identity back with their personal recovery assistance. Trusted experts will guide you through the recovery and resolution process. This one-on-one guidance will help cancel credit cards, file a police report and navigate you through the necessary resolution steps to take with lenders. Recovery specialists can also give access to emergency funds and renew accounts.

In addition, Identity Guard offers peace of mind with $1 million identity theft insurance** to cover expenses that result from identity theft.
